BUS TOUR, WITH LUNCH, TO THREE HISTORIC HOUSES:

WILLARD HOUSE AND CLOCK MUSEUM

 CODMAN ESTATE

 GROPIUS HOUSE

Especially for our out-of-town attendees, we have arranged a tour of three nearby historic venues. We willl board our bus in downtown Boston, then head to the Willard House and Clock Museum in Grafton, Massachusetts, for a special tour and welcome from Trustee Gary Sullivan. Gary is a highly regarded antique clock dealer, American antique furniture expert, and a regular appraiser on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow  This house is the Willard Family homestead, in a beautiful rural New England setting, where many of their finest clocks are displayed along with a recreation of their workshop.

We then will proceed to the town of Lincoln and two of many important houses owned by Historic New England.  The Georgian 18th century Codman Estate sits in lovely landscaped acreage, and we will enjoy a presentation, tour and box lunch there.  This recent article offers a related story.  Close by is the Gropius House which we also will visit.  Walter Gropius, founder of the German design school known as the Bauhaus, was one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century. He designed Gropius House as his family home when he came to teach architecture at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.

Our bus will return to Boston by 5 p.m.  Please note that there is an additional charge for this tour.  Space on the bus and at these historic houses is limited, so please register early to assure a place.
